Chandos is delighted to welcome Belgian tour de force David Cohen once more to the Malvern platform in a programme which contrasts the richness of Dvorak melody with the new soundworld of 1911 Sibelius. If you’ve not heard it before, don’t expect Nordic coolness from this symphony. It’s been described as a ‘flash of genius’, a ‘monument of antimonumentalism’, and by some as the peak of his output. You must hear this fabulous work.
