Nothing gets Omaha charged up quite like the start of the Holiday Lights Festival. One of the most anticipated evenings of the season is the night holiday spirits are boosted with the annual Thanksgiving Lighting Ceremony held on Thanksgiving evening, November 22 in the Gene Leahy Mall at 14th and Farnam. The twinkling lights are sure to amaze people of all ages. Patrons will gather to hear a variety of musical performances, including the choral group MasterSingers, beginning at 5:30 p.m. Jerry Longe, who portrays Scrooge in the Omaha Community Playhouse performance of “A Christmas Carol”, will also make an appearance. At 6 p.m., Mayor Jim Suttle will lead the crowd in a countdown to the 2012 lighting display.
