Winner of the Best Screenplay Oscar, and nominated for five others - including Best Picture - this is one of the most talked-about films of the 1990s. It's based on the classic Irish short story, "A Guest of the Nation," by Frank O'Connor, in which IRA men in the 1920s make the mistake of becoming friendly with the man they will have to kill.
