Mental Health is Everyone’s Business

Join CoolTan Arts’ BIG Largactyl Shuffle from Maudsley Hospital to Tate Modern, a fun guided cultural walk with poetry readings and other surprises along the route.

Celebrating world mental health day, this walk is entitled ‘No Health without Mental Health’ and delves into the history and social impact of the NHS, ‘From cradle to grave’ since 1948.

Comedian and broadcaster Arthur Smith will be our 2011 Largactyl Shuffle patron. Mr Smith is a comedian of longstanding prowess performing since the 80s, an Edinburgh Fringe regular and current host on BBC radio 4 extra. Join us for a day of laughter and culture which promises rare entertainment, with poetry readings, humour, gentle exercise and much more.

This year there will also be an exclusive opportunity to witness a special tree planting ceremony on the route. Come along and be part of history in the making. CoolTan Arts is proud to present the planting of a Gingko tree on Camberwell Green as part of our Cleaner Greener Safer commission awarded by Southwark Council.

The walk finishes with a reception and refreshments at Tate Modern: an opportunity to relax and socialise.

The walk is suitable for people with disabilities and wheel chair users. Our friendly CoolTan guides are there to help you. Please bring a packed lunch and drinks, wear suitable clothes and sensible footwear. All welcome!
