Leave no one inside and enjoy the vibrant beauty of spring at Heard Natural Science Museum & Wildlife Sanctuary's new one-day outdoor spring festival, Celebrate Nature, on April 14, 2012 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
This day will be packed with special activities for the whole family, including live concerts, interactive animal presentations, a Blackland Prairie Raptor Show, guided trail tours, canoe demonstrations, "green" vendors, nature-inspired and hand-crafted items made by artisans, and more. Guests will also enjoy our Animals of the World and Animal Superheroes exhibits, and butterfly garden. Delight in fresh-squeezed lemonade, homemade desserts, and boxed lunches. Or, bring a picnic.
The Heard is also calling for North Texas' most creative kids, in kindergarten through 5th grade, to come up with their most "g-littering" fashions created only from recyclable materials. These outfits will be showcased and judged during the Recycling Fashion Show at 1 p.m. Prizes will be awarded to the top three finalists.
Admission to Celebrate Nature is only $9 for adults, $6 for children ages 3-12 and seniors, and free for children ages two and under. McKinney residents will receive free admission on this day with proof of residence. For more information, visit heardmuseum.org.
Celebrate Nature is presented by Wells Fargo and sponsored by NBC5, KLTY, and McKinney Community Development Corporation.
