Celebrate America Recycles Day at the Solid Waste Spectacular November 19, 2011

We are starting our day with a 5K Trash Dash and a 1 mile "recycling run" around and on the landfill. Vendors will be available to collect glasses/sunglasses (One Sight), shoes (Soles4Souls), swap books (Friends of the Library) and aluminum cans (Recycle4Haiti) and more. Our children's area is going to have recycling games, recycled crafts and face painting. Music is provided by Leon High School's Steel Drum band. Landfill tours are available and heavy equipment will be on display. The Chico "Bag Monster" and our own "Rhonda Renee Recycles" will be on site to talk to folks about recycling.
FDEP (Florida Department of Environmental Protection) will collect ARD pledges. When folks make the pledge, they get to sign our freshly painted, hook-lift recycling bin. The top of the bin is going to read "I pledged to recycle!"
