Casting Insights with Casting Director, Marci Liroff March 31, 2009

This is a three-week intensive for the advanced actor. Each night Ms. Liroff will have participants cold read for her with material she will provide. You must bring a headshot and a resume.

Casting Director Marci Liroff, of Marci Liroff Casting, has a passion for teaching as well as casting. Future projects include: The Ghosts of Girlfriends Past starring Matthew McConaughey and Jennifer Garner.

This will be a very informal setting for you to ask questions of Ms. Liroff so please come prepared to ask questions, engage and share information.

Within the April 7th class, the owners of the website ActorCast will come and speak to you and demonstrate their website. ActorCast (www.actorcast.com) is an online talent services site for actors, agents and managers. Part of the Cast It Network, the online casting system used by the majority of film and television productions, ActorCast members can create an actor profile, and manage headshots, resumes and reels that are then directly available to the casting professionals using Cast It.

Within the April 14th class, Talent Manager Brian Medavoy will speak to the class about all things concerning talent management. Medavoy, of the Rigberg Entertainment Group, was a Co-Executive Producer on Just Shoot Me, and an Executive Producer for the show Dharma & Greg.

Ms. Liroff has gained an extensive knowledge of what it takes to get the job after working with some of the best directors and producers in the business for the last 29 years. She will help you learn what you need to know before, during and after your auditions. You will go through the audition process in detail to better prepare you for what’s expected of you in your auditions for film and television.

Ms. Liroff also cast Gothika starring Halle Berry, The Spiderwick Chronicles starring Freddie Highmore, Mary Louise Parker and Nick Nolte; Mean Girls starring Lindsay Lohan and Tina Fey; Just Like Heaven starring Reese Witherspoon; Blade Runner; E.T.: The Extra-Terrestrial; Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom; Poltergeist and many more.
