Throughout the centuries, the words of the Catholic Mass have inspired composers to write some of their most enriching and enlivening music. This concert will present the premiere performance of Missa brevis by Chris Fraley, the Cascadian Chorale’s 2011–12 Composer-in-Residence. We also commemorate the 400th anniversary of the death of Tomás Luis de Victoria, the greatest Spanish composer of the Renaissance, with his Missa ‘O magnum mysterium’, based on the famous Christmas motet.
