The Cascadian Chorale here presents words and music written for those who have passed on. Peter Winkler’s “Requiem aeternam” commemorates the 9/11 attacks, and John Muehleisen’s “Peace, Night, Sleep” is dedicated to the victims of the recent Japanese earthquake and tsunami. Shakespeare reminds us, through music of Ralph Vaughan Williams, that “our little life is rounded with a sleep.” Bach’s motet “Komm, Jesu, komm” illustrates how death may always be greeted with grace, melody, and hope.
