Caryl Philips is the award-winning author of the recently published Dancing in the Dark, as well as Crossing the River and A Distant Shore. Ashley Dawson is this year?s Resident Mellon Fellow and an Assistant Professor of English at the College of Staten Island. He is the author of the forthcoming Mongrel Nation: Diasporic Culture and the Making of Postcolonial Britain.
