Carson Ellis to Open Art Beat at PCC Rock Creek May 10, 2010

May 10 in the Rock Creek Forum (bldg 3, 114) from 10 to 11am

Renowned illustrator Carson Ellis will open PCC's Annual Art Beat Celebration at Rock Creek.

Ellis was born in 1975 in Vancouver, Canada and earned a BFA in painting at the University of Montana in Missoula, where she earned a BFA in Painting in 1998 (and also spent a year in France in art school).

She has been a nanny, a hot dog vendor, a chairlift operator, an artist's model, and a cocktail waitress but nowadays she is happy to be a working illustrator, primarily known as the illustrator-in-residence for the band, The Decemberists.

She has had solo exhibitions in Portland and San Jose, group exhibitions in Portland, Los Angeles and San Francisco, has illustrated for Willamette Week, Portland Mercury, New York Times and has illustrated four books.
