This musical performance is set in 1963 in Lake Charles, Louisiana. It combines gospel and the sounds of Motown, illuminating the changing times of the Civil Rights era while examining the social and family issues with which our diverse culture still struggles with today. The deeply moving and lyrical story of a maid and her employer's son received critical acclaim and six Tony Award nominations including Best Musical and Best Original Score.
