If your 2007 new year’s resolution was to watch more flat-track roller derby you’re in luck!
Your hometown heroines, the Carolina Rollergirls All-Star Team, was undefeated this fall in their new digs at Dorton Arena. Wins against the 12th-ranked Sin City Rollergirls, 11th-ranked Providence Roller Derby, and 4th-ranked Arizona Roller Derby, have the Carolina Rollergirls primed for the ultimate challenge: Themselves!
Mere national conquests cannot compare to the time-honored territorial rivalries that exist between the Trauma Queens, Debutante Brawlers and Tai Chi-tahs! According to insider reports, while the Tai Chi-tahs have been preening over their 2006 season championship, the Debutante Brawlers and Trauma Queens have been concocting recipes which call for squashed, smashed and road-kill Chi-tah! Dishing out derby, indeed!
That’s right folks, home season is upon us! The 2007 Season is less than two weeks away and the Carolina Rollergirls are proud to be kicking it off with something special - a home team tournament to benefit Meals on Wheels of Wake County. Chosen to be the Rollergirls 2007 sponsored charity, 100 percent of the proceeds will go to Meals on Wheels, AND the Stewards Fund will match 100 percent of every dollar we raise up to $25,000!
The tournament will consist of a round-robin tournament with 20 minute match-ups between each of the home teams. These “mini-games” will be played to determine seating for the 2007 season.
Match-up 1: Tai Chi-tahs vs. Debutante Brawlers
Match-up 2: Debutante Brawlers vs. Trauma Queens
Match-up 3: Trauma Queens vs. Tai Chi-tahs
These match-ups will heat up old rivalries as all-star jammers Princess America, Teflon Donna and Roxy Rockett square off against each other once more to see who can bring her team to victory. The Debutantes will be unleashing an 2005 season favorite, Ms. Anthrope the Mordant on polite southern society and new rollergirls Minnie Mauser (Tai Chi-tahs), Daisy Rage (Trauma Queens) and Kali (Debutante Brawlers) will be making their derby debuts! This night will also celebrate the return of the Trauma Queens' new mama Zella Lugosi who went straight from the maternity ward to the flat-track to vent her postpartum rage.
