Students will construct this traditional oval basket with a mixture of flat spokes and round and flat weavers. Techniques will include: laying out a base, continuous randing on an uneven number of spokes, and bye-staking. The sides have alternate bands of flat and round weavers. The top is finished with a notched white oak handle and an inner rim, and is lashed with a wide splint in a figure eight. The finished dimensions - of the basket are 14 inches by 9 inches by 15 inches (can vary), including the handle. This class is appropriate for all levels of weaving experience.
