Four-time Juno Award nominee, vocalist and pianist Carol Welsman hails from Canada and has been fascinated by Peggy Lee since she was a young girl. Peggy Lee was nominated for 12 Grammy Awards and won a Grammy in 1969 for her legendary recording of “Is That All there Is?” Carol begins the show in an intimate quartet setting singing her innovative arrangements of Peggy Lee song classics. Each song has its own story and Carol cleverly ties in anecdotes about Miss Lee between the songs and plays with instrumentation and musical style to simmer with Swing or Ballad and sizzle into samba or Cha Cha Cha. From solo piano/vocal pieces through to full band accompaniment, Carol always keeps the mood sultry and silky.
Winner of the 2005 “Pianist/Keyboardist of the Year” Award, and nominee for “Best Female Vocalist” at the 2006 Canadian Smooth Jazz Awards, Carol is riding a new wave of success. She has released five CDs to date, and four have received Juno Award nominations, the Canadian equivalent to the Grammy Awards.
