Fascination with the homeland of her Jewish grandparents drew Carol V. Davis to St. Petersburg in the mid 1990s. As an American-born Jew in Russia, she was an outsider in Russian society. This collection of poems expresses the struggle with language barriers and cultural difference -- struggles that were heightened as Davis helped her children adjust to their new daily life. Inspired by Russia's rich history, its economic changes, and its landscape, these poems express a unique perspective on Russia.
