Carnatic Sundays September 23, 2012

Carnatic Music is the classical music of South India. Like its counterpart in the North, Carnatic music is based on raga and tala. An emphasis on rhythm in Carnatic compositions and improvisations leads to lively interaction between the musicians, an exciting and spontaneous element of the Carnatic tradition. Every last Sunday of the month, Arun Ramamurthy will hold 'Carnatic Sundays,' a series featuring local and visiting artists in the South Indian tradition.
