Designed by John Notman in 1850, Capitol Square is home to the Virginia State Capitol, the Executive Mansion, the Bell Tower, the new Civil Rights Memorial and a number of state buildings and other monuments dedicated to Virginians who helped shape our nation’s history, including George Mason, Thomas Jefferson and Harry F.
