League of Women Voters of Northfield and Cannon River Watershed Partnership will co-sponsor a public candidate forum on Thursday, November 2nd, at Northfield City Hall, from 7 – 8:30 p.m. for the following elected offices: Rice County Commissioner District 2, and Rice County Sheriff. Coffee, cider, and cookies will be served.
This format for this forum will be two consecutive, moderated panel discussions as follows:
7 – 7:40 Panel discussion for Rice County Commissioner District 2.
7:45 – 8:30 Panel discussion for Rice County Sheriff
The panel discussion will be structured by a moderator, and will include written, screened audience questions. If both candidates for an office are unable to attend, the public may meet informally with any candidate who does attend, but that candidate will not appear alone on a panel.
Both the League of Women Voters of Northfield and the Cannon River Watershed Partnership are nonpartisan groups, and do not endorse, support, or oppose candidates for office. It is our purpose to provide the voters of this district with an opportunity to hear the candidates discuss a variety of issues, including those related to the environment.
The following candidates have been invited; not all candidates may be able to attend.
Rice County Commissioner District 2: Betsey Buckheit, Galen Malecha
Rice County Sheriff: Richard Cook, Mark Murphy
