CancerCare will host their Annual Spring Gala this year on Thursday, June 14, 2012 at The Mandarin Oriental in New York City. Guests will gather for a cocktail reception at 6:30pm followed by a presentation and dinner at 7:30pm to benefit the 68-year-old New York City-based nonprofit. Actress and supporter S. Epatha Merkerson will be honored with an award presented by actress Whoopi Goldberg, and the evening will also feature a live auction with Sotheby’s auctioneer C. Hugh Hildesley. Proceeds will go to CancerCare’s free support services, which are available to anyone affected by cancer, including people with cancer, caregivers, children, loved ones and the bereaved. CancerCare programs include counseling and support groups, education, financial assistance and practical help. These programs are provided by professional oncology social workers and are completely free of charge. Individual tickets for the event begin at $750 and can be purchased at www.cancercare.org/gala. The Mandarin Oriental is located at 80 Columbus Circle at 60th Street.
