Canada's Royal Winnipeg Ballet displays its classical roots with the Vancouver premiere of Svengali, choreographed by Mark Godden - the creative genius behind RWB's acclaimed Dracula.
Set in a decadent world reminiscent of mid-century Weimar, the ballet presents an explosive new look at the original master of mind control, April 20 to 22, 2012 at the Centre in Vancouver for the Performing Arts. A gripping storyline fuels this complex psychological drama, unfolding with powerful athleticism and world-class artistry.
Svengali is performed to a mesmerizing score featuring Rachmaninov, Liszt, Richard Strauss, Philip Glass, and the Amsterdam Klezmer Band.
Tickets from $32.50 (Student/Senior/Group tix avail) at Ticketmaster.ca. Info: rwb.org.
