The Caltech Chamber Music Ensembles, directed by Delores Bing, present their Winter Chamber Music Concert Series beginning on Saturday, January 26th in Dabney Lounge.
Caltech students present music for small ensembles in a series of free concerts. Compositions by Beethoven ("Ghost" Trio; two early trios for strings, woodwinds, and piano; and Piano Quartet, Op. 16) and Dvorak ("Dumky" Trio, String Quintet, and Piano Quartet No. 1) will be featured, along with many other selections by composers of every era. Music for flute, strings, and harpsichord by Handel and Telemann; trio for two flutes and piano by Bizet, and Beethoven's Piano Trio, Op. 71. No. 1 "Ghost"
Sunday, January 27, 3:30 PM:
A trio sonata by Telemann, Beethoven's Trio Op. 11, and both the first Piano Quartet and "Dumky" Trio of Dvorak.
Friday, February 1, 8:00 PM:
Many short selections by Haydn, Mendelssohn, Schubert, Cui, Nielsen, Ravel, and Ginastera - for woodwinds, strings, brass, piano and harpsichord.
Saturday, February 2, 8:00 PM:
An early Mozart string quartet, Beethoven's Op. 16 Piano Quartet, and the Piano Quintet of Shostakovich
Sunday, February 3, 3:30 PM:
Super Bowl Alternative Concert
A concert of music by Mozart, Devienne, Beethoven, Brahms, Dvorak, and Barber for those who prefer chamber music to football
