This year, the Fair's featured attractions will center on "Superstars and Superheroes." A signature exhibit in Expo Center will showcase the evolution of superheroes, from their comic book origins to their modern incarnation as movie and television icons. The exhibit --curated by Sacramento-based Stage Nine Entertainment Company -- will feature celebrity autograph signings, authentic replicas and paraphernalia from movie sets, artist storyboards and even regular stunt shows. Costumed characters will make appearances every day, posing for photos with guests and participating in the nightly Fair parade. Plus, the Fair will once again honor the First Emergency Responders and continue to salute the heroic work they do with Emergency Services and military. In addition to celebrating popular and local superheroes, the 2006 State Fair will encourage fairgoers of all ages to show off their inner superstar. The Fair is offering numerous opportunities for Californians to showcase their talents for the chance to win cash, prizes and a State Fair title. The Fair will be hosting two vocal talent competitions -- one for kids aged 15 and under and another for those aged 16-28 -- with the finals being held at the State Fair. The adult competition prizes will include a complete "Pop Star Prize Package" with cash prizes, a makeover, vocal lessons, shopping gift certificates and roundtrip airfare to a national talent competition of their choice.
