Cruise into the holiday spirit on Saturday, December 1, 2007 for the Holiday Toys and Mittens Ride. The Toys and Mittens Ride kicks-off the new Urban Expeditions program, a year-long series of monthly community-focused bicycle rides presented by Cyclists Inciting Change through Live Exchange (CICLE), and sponsored by R.E.I., that encourages residents to explore their neighborhoods on two-wheels.
The Toys and Mittens ride will gather toys and warm articles of clothing from local businesses that currently are collecting much needed winter items for families in need. Each year, the Hathaway-Sycamores Child and Family Services gives these toys and warm layers to local families and children. Drop by Helen’s Cycles Arcadia, Monrovia Coffee Company, Stan’s Monrovia Bikes, or 24 Hour Fitness Arcadia now through November 30, 2007 to donate toys, warm gloves, hats, and socks to support the Toys and Mittens Ride.
Join the Toys and Mittens ride at REI Arcadia at 10:30 AM on Saturday, December 1st, for a fun-filled and family friendly day. The relaxed-paced ride will wind through the neighborhoods of Arcadia and Monrovia, and will include stops for toy pick-ups at participating merchants. Enjoy holiday tunes, yummy baked goods donated by Scratch Cookies and Bakery, and tasty pizza and Lasagna donated by Zelo Pizza.
All toy and clothing donations should be delivered new and unwrapped.
The Toys and Mittens Ride is FREE. Registration begins at 10:30am and ride departs at 11am. Meet at REI Arcadia: 214 N. Santa Anita Ave., Arcadia, CA, 91006. For more information visit: www.BikeNow.org or call 323-478-0060.
