BUSTER KEATON'S "THE GENERAL"
(directed by Buster Keaton & Clyde Bruckman, 1926, 75 min.)
5:45 pm doors open/6:30 pm film starts
"The General" is a cinematic masterpiece - a brilliantly choreographed silent era comedy directed by and starring Buster Keaton. Based on a true incident in the Civil War, the film is a remarkably accurate historical epic. The film's story centers around a young train engineer (played by Keaton) who is rejected by the Confederate army as unfit and taken for a coward by his sweetheart. When his train, "The General" is stolen by Union soldiers, an extended chase by rail ensues with our engineer eventually proving himself an inadvertent hero.
