The Ferrara Buskers Festival is a non competitive parade of the best street musicians in the world. In terms of tradition and dimension it is the most important festival of this kind. In 2005 about 800,000 people, coming from anywhere in Italy and with a remarkable presence of foreign tourists, crowded the 200,000 square metres of the beautiful medieval and Renaissance stage in the historical centre of the town. Every year the organization invites at its expense 20 groups, but beside them many others join the festival. Only in the last edition 1218 different shows were performed by a total of 757 artists coming from 26 different countries.
