weSPARK CANCER SUPPORT CENTER ANNOUNCES
Burton Sperber Presents “A Magical Night II” at The Magic Castle®, July 13
Hollywood CA, June 19, 2009 – On Monday, July 13, “A Magical Night II” returns to the Magic Castle for an exciting night of magic, food, and drinks. While this event happens to be a fundraiser to support the free services offered at weSPARK Cancer Support Center, it’s also an opportunity for the general public to spend an evening at one of L.A.’s most extraordinary private clubs.
There will be at least 20 magicians performing constantly throughout the evening in every room at The Magic Castle. The magic is non-stop. “There’s barely enough time to grab a bite to eat and a drink before something new starts.” The entertainment ranges from stage illusions with live birds to rope tricks and card tricks to close up coin tricks as well as some very unusual one-of-a-kind magic and lots of comedy. Between performances the magicians are available to talk magic with the guests. They can visit some of the Castle’s historic exhibits and see “Irma the Invisible Piano Player.”
In 2009 business owner and magician Burt Sperber decided to create his own event to fundraise for weSPARK, the organization founded in 1999 by his daughter, actress Wendie Jo Sperber. Bob Gale, who co-wrote Back to the Future with Robert Zemeckis, said in a review of the event’s premier year, “A Magical Night lived up to its name in every possible way, and all of us who attended tip our hats to Burt Sperber, who not only put it all together, but participated with a performance that was every bit as impressive as the professional acts.”

weSPARK Cancer Support Center
Located in Sherman Oaks, weSpark is a special healing environment dedicated to enhancing quality of life for cancer patients, their families and friends.
Founded by actress Wendie Jo Sperber in 2001 after she was diagnosed with breast cancer, weSpark Cancer Support Center offers a safe haven for those affected by cancer. weSpark provides, free of charge, programs designed to alleviate anxiety, fear, depression, isolation and evoke feelings of relaxation and well being. Programs and services include support groups, healing classes, and monthly workshops. Guests can also schedule one-on-one sessions such as Reiki, Qi Gong Energy, Integrated Energy Sessions or Return to Wholeness. Last year weSpark extended its services to Santa Clarita and in 2009 is partnering with Providence Health System in Burbank.
Wendie Jo conceived and created a cozy, home-like setting for guests to receive the emotional support and comfort they need throughout this difficult time in their lives. As her co-star and friend Tom Hanks said during the early years, she was a “walking inspiration” to those affected by cancer. Although she lost her battle with cancer in 2005, Wendie Jo’s dream is being fulfilled everyday with the therapeutic and holistic programs weSpark provides.
