Burrowing Owls July 23, 2010

The Burrowing Owl was an abundant, permanent resident of San Diego County. They are now considered "endangered" due to habitat destruction. Since 1991, the Nature Center has conducted a successful captive breeding program with these appealing birds, releasing their offspring into the wild.
