BURKINA ELECTRIC - NYC Concert August 9, 2008

BURKINA ELECTRIC, the first electronica dance band from the West African country of Burkina Faso, brings traditional Burkinabe music and Western club electronica dance to NYC. Led by Brooklyn-based composer/percussionist Lukas Ligeti, Burkina Electric oscillates fluidly amongst the traditional soundscapes of the African nation of Burkina Faso, fusions of techno/trip-hop, and the rhythms of contemporary electronic dance culture, creating what many call a new genre of African electronica “both experimental and exciting.”
