As Sophia from The Golden Girls would say, "Picture it: Spanish Harlem, 1979"
Break out your Jelly shoes and knee-high socks, kids! The crazy boys from CLUB JUICYFRUIT are back with a new bi-weekly event called BULLA SUNDAYS. Promoter Erik Jason has crafted this afternoon event on the outdoor patio of Hollywood's Jimmy's Lounge, reminiscent of summer block parties in Spanish Harlem in the late 70s/early 80s - with a queer twist!
Beginning Memorial Day Weekend, this Sunday afternoon party (yes, afternoon party!) combines a LIVE 5-piece Salsa band with veteran DJ Josh Peace (Mustache Mondays, Cherry Pop) spinning Disco, ElectroClash, Hip-Hop and 80s Sugar Pop.
The crowd is an eclectic mix of queer kids, hipsters, old crooners and around-the-way-girls. They're giving FREE SALSA LESSONS to curious newbies who wanna get their Cha-Cha on; they even have a guy selling yummy snow cones, just like the street vendors in Spanish Harlem!
BULLA SUNDAYS - Grand Opening May 24, 2009 from 3pm - 8pm. Check myspace.com/bullasundays for upcoming dates in June!
