Taming the bull!
Tough adventure racers are in the final stages of preparing to take on the infamous Bull of Africa Expedition Race, which starts on 3 June. This international event will take these brave hearts on a 570km non-stop adventure, starting in the coastal town of Mossel Bay in the southern Cape, and test their endurance, emotional strength and teamwork to the absolute limit.
Top adventure athletes from South Africa, Brazil, Russia, Ireland, the US, New Zealand and the UK will be expected to kayak on seas and lakes, hike over the Outeniqua Mountains, mountain bike, dive to a wreck, crawl in caves, swim through icy waters and abseil down cliffs on a tough course, with the cut-off being seven days later at an undisclosed location.
The Bull of Africa is part of an eight-race World Series, with the top two teams qualifying for the Adventure Racing World Champs in Scotland. The Adventure Centre of Excellence organises this epic event and has partnered with the Eden District Municipality, Suzuki, Netcare 911 as medical back-up, and Capestorm apparel to ensure competitors have an unforgettable life experience.
