In building the Facebook Platform, the designers tried to design a system that was incredibly powerful while still easy for developers to use. It was also necessary to protect users' privacy and ensure that the site remained valuable and enjoyable for users. In this talk, Ari Steinberg and Charlie Cheever, both of Facebook, will go over the technical decisions made to accomplish these goals. They will talk about the design and the numerous ways in which applications can integrate with the Facebook site.
