This is the second of a week-long series of faith-based events in Alameda County preparing for the historic inauguration of Barack Obama. Diverse interfaith communities are reaffirming each individual's critical role in sustaining "Unity for the Sake of Change," especially through these times of increasing economic hardship.
Buddhist chanting and ceremonies led by Rev. Kodo Umezu (Buddhist Churches of America - Center for Buddhist Education); Rev. Dr. Shoyo Taniguchi (So. Alameda Buddhist Church); and Rev. Ronald Kobata (Executive Assistant, Office of the Bishop, BCA).
Rev. Dr. David Matsumoto (Berkeley Buddhist Temple and Institute of Buddhist Studies) will deliver a Dharma Talk. Pastor Michael McBride (The Way Church and Berkeley Organizing Congregations for Action); and Father Jay Matthews (St. Benedict's Church) will offer Interfaith reflections.
Information on community services, needs and opportunities will be shared by Terrie Light, Executive Director of Berkeley Food and Housing Project. Music will be provided by Di Lewis.
