Buddha's Birthday Celebration May 16, 2009

Begin with the Open Poetry Event Saturday at 2:30 (new poets welcome!). The whole family will want to come to the Vegetarian Buffet Extraordinaire (with music and storytelling!) at 6pm. Sunday there is a kid's parade at 11am. "Doing Time, Doing Dharma" a panel with discussion by Buddhists engaged in working with prisoners will begin at 1pm and an Introduction to Meditation at 3pm. The festivities conclude with the beautiful Lotus Lantern-Lighting and Chanting Service at 7:30pm inspired by the traditions of Korean Buddhism. Between events you may want to tour the Temple, chat with members, and just enjoy the grounds which will be specially decorated for the occasion. Everyone is welcome for part or all of the events. Donations accepted, but no fee except for the Vegetarian Feast.
