With its iconic opening four-note motif, Beethoven's most famous symphony, the 'Fifth,' is paired with his Leonore Overture No. 3. From his opera 'Fidelio,' the Overture is a musical expression of the triumph of good over evil and the pure joy and grandeur of the human spirit. The program also features BSO Principal Flute Emily Skala performing Baltimore native Christopher Rouse's Flute Concerto. A "certifiable hit" (The Detroit Free Press), Rouse's Flute Concerto evokes the traditions of Celtic music.
