The Brown Bag Lunch Series continues this month with lunch at the Branigan Cultural Center. This months speaker is Linnea Egbert, out going president of the Las Colcheras Quilt Guild. Egbert will discuss the history and activities of the local quilt guild, and then lead a guided tour of the quilts currently on display.
Egbert joined the Las Colcheras Quilt Guild when she and her husband, John, moved to Las Cruces in 1999. The Seattle, Washington native has been sewing since the second grade using her mothers sewing machine. She completed her first quilt in 1979 and has been quilting ever since. John and Linnea enjoy touring the southwest in their travel trailer which she notes has a sewing room.
The Brown Bag Lunch Program is a joint program of the Branigan Cultural Center and the Las Cruces Railroad Museum. Programs are presented on the second Tuesday every month, alternating between the two museums. Refreshments are provided. Participants should bring their own meal.
The Branigan Cultural Center is located at 500 N. Water, on the north end of the downtown pedestrian mall. Off street parking is located at the intersection of North Water and Hadley Streets. For more information call 505-541-2154.
