The El Paso & Southwestern Railroad: An Archaeological and Historical Perspective by David T. Kirkpatrick, Ph.D,, RPA
Tuesday, April 14 @ 12 noon
The El Paso & Southwestern Railroad was constructed in 1902 to carry ore from mines in the Douglas, Arizona area to the smelter at El Paso, Texas. Over the years, the railroad carried livestock and passengers, becoming a major transportation link across southern Arizona and New Mexico and El Paso, Texas. Archaeological and historical investigations at the stations of Pratt, Victorio, and Hermanas provided new information on the workers and their families.
