2012 marks the 100th anniversary of Bayard Rustin’s birth. A master strategist and tireless activist, and an openly gay African American who worked closely with Martin Luther King, Jr., Rustin was silenced, threatened, arrested, beaten, imprisoned and fired from important leadership positions. Five years in the making and the winner of numerous awards, BROTHER OUTSIDER presents a feature-length documentary portrait, focusing on Rustin’s activism for peace, racial equality, economic justice and human rights.
Drinks and popcorn will be available.
