SANTA BARBARA, Calif. – (November 5, 2008) – Members of the greater Santa Barbara community can own original photographs and graphic design prints of up-and-coming professionals through the 5th Annual Brooks Institute Holiday Image Sale beginning December 4th at the school’s Cota Street campus. On display will be images, including photography and graphic design work from programs in the school’s wide-ranging visual curriculum, ranging in size from 5x7 inches up to 11x14 inches. All the art will be matted and some will be framed. The students will determine the cost of their individual pictures. Prices will range from $50 for the smallest unframed work up to $275 for the largest framed images, with the full purchase price going to the student artist. Purchases can be made in the Brooks Institute’s Gallery 27 Store, which opens that evening.

Last year the show and sale included more than 100 items available for purchase. The show’s selection jury includes two prominent Brooks Institute faculty members, Russ McConnell & Rich Fuller. Their participation will ensure the highest quality student work goes on display.

McConnell is also the Director of Gallery 27 and the Gallery 27 Store, which opens that evening. “As Director of the Gallery for the past 13 years, I have been flooded with questions by the public, as well students and their families asking if there is a way to see a selection and potentially purchase photographs created by those connected with Brooks Institute. We now have the perfect venue for such a place with easy access by the public!”

The images will be displayed on the walls of the Brooks Institute’s Gallery 27 located at 27 East Cota Street in downtown Santa Barbara. Purchases can be made during the opening reception at the new Gallery 27 Store on Thursday, December 4 from 5 pm to 8 p.m. until the closing date of January 8, 2009. This reception is part of the 1st Thursday Art Walk, a walking tour of select downtown Santa Barbara galleries. For questions regarding sales please contact Borgia Wasem at (805) 275-5606.
