Fourth Sunday - Brooklyn Salsa Party!
This party is co-hosted by Cathy Calderon of Shambhala Yoga & Dance Center to offer the community a quality salsa party and student dance social in the neighborhood. Everyone is invited so join us for the Fourth Sunday Brooklyn Salsa Party! and dance to Classic Salsa (DJ), Bachata & Merengue. Have a college ID? Bring it with you and pay only $3 at the door. Early bird? The salsa party starts at 7 PM and goes until 11 PM so if you get there before 7 there is no cover charge. We offer a Free Intro Salsa Class as well so come check it out! The Sunday party promises to be a great tradition and is a great quality dance event you can look forward to once a month on the Fourth Sunday. Bring your friends to this laid back event, sample tasty African-inspired cuisine and dance to a special selection of salsa dura hits.
IMPORTANT: Current students of Shambhala should pick-up their special "Sunday" tickets from Cathy Calderon prior to the party. Tickets are reuseable on other Sunday Brooklyn Salsa Party! events.
Started on March 8 2008, Brooklyn Salsa Party! is a chill and relaxed Brooklyn Salsa/Mambo/On2 dance event & Latin Night in the Brooklyn neighborhoods of Park Slope, Prospect Heights, Clinton Hill and Fort Greene. This is an On2 New York Style Mambo & Salsa dance event with DJ Music (Salsa, Batchata & Merengue Latin mix) as well as live West-African & Afro-Cuban drummers.
We offer a free beginner’s salsa class to start the party and we welcome absolute beginners as well as advanced salsa & mambo dancers. The music is 75% Classic Salsa Dura, 15% Cha Cha and 10% Bachata, Merengue & Reggaeton.

Take the C (also can transfer from A) train to Clinton-Washington Aves stop then walk north on Washington Ave to Lafayette, turn right then walk over to Grand Ave and take a right turn and Le Grand Dakar is on the left. You can also take the G train to Clinton-Washington Aves then take the B38 bus to Grand Ave or walk east on Lafayette Ave and turn right on Grand Ave. Alternatively you can take the 2, 3, 4, 5, B, Q, D, M, N, R, W or Long Island RR trains to the Atlantic Avenue / Pacific Street Station and catch a quick-cheap cab to 285 Grand Ave between Lafayette & Clifton Place. Buses that will get you there are the B38, B44, B48 or B52. Plenty of other bus routes as well in the area. Brooklyn Salsa Party! is in Brooklyn centrally located to Park Slope, Prospect Heights, Clinton Hill and Fort Greene neighborhoods.
