First Saturday - Brooklyn Salsa Party!
After the big First Saturday event at the Brooklyn Museum, join your friends at the Brooklyn Salsa Party! @Le Grand Dakar.
Started on March 8 2008, Brooklyn Salsa Party! is a chill and relaxed Brooklyn Salsa/Mambo/On2 dance event & Latin Night in the Brooklyn neighborhoods of Park Slope, Prospect Heights, Clinton Hill and Fort Greene. This is an On2 New York Style Mambo & Salsa dance event with DJ Music (Salsa, Batchata & Merengue Latin mix) as well as live West-African & Afro-Cuban drummers.
We offer a free beginner’s salsa class to start the party and we welcome absolute beginners as well as advanced salsa & mambo dancers. The music is 75% Classic Salsa Dura, 15% Cha Cha and 10% Bachata, Merengue & Reggaeton.
Brooklyn’s own Khephran and Co. of “Indoda Entsha – Percussion Ensemble” accents the DJ Salsa music with live-pulsating West African and Afro-Cuban rhythms! They also play African drum solos between sets. Come feel the roots of our music with “Indoda Entsha”!
