Brooklyn Rundfunk Orkestrata (BRO) is the highly anticipated new project from Ottawa native Peter Kiesewalter, the leader and brilliant musical mind behind Grammy-nominated opera revisionists East Village Opera Company. BRO’s debut album and live show are entitled The Hills Are Alive, a genre- and mind-bending adaptation of the songs from Rodgers and Hammerstein’s iconic musical, The Sound Of Music. Initially conceived as a one-time-only concert, The Hills Are Alive caught the attention of the Rodgers and Hammerstein Organization (RHO) which granted BRO unprecedented artistic license with the songs. So impressed with BRO was RHO that the organization invited the band to participate in the filmed bonus segments on the recently released Blu-ray DVD release of the 1965 Oscar-winning film version of The Sound Of Music. The Highline Ballroom show, celebrating the release of the band’s CD, will include vocal performances from Jane Siberry, Carole Pope, Everett Bradley, Victoria Cave, Carolyn Leonhart, Dave Wall, and TK Wonder.
