The annual Brooklyn Pride is a colourful and very important LGBT celebration, but on a much smaller and friendlier scale than the mother of them all across the East River.
The Brooklyn Pride Committee seeks to create a new bridge, whereby local Queer people, organisations, businesses, friends and supporters of equal human rights can come together in solidarity and celebration and bring visibility to the multicultural Brooklyn LGBT community.
Whereas the NYC Pride march heads down swanky Fifth Avenue (the main artery of Manhattan and the host of the city's poshest shops), the Brooklyn version is much more laid-back - no glitz or polish, just a good vibe.
There are a number of associated events including a Interfaith Service, Pride in the Park, Pride Reception at Borough Hall, 10K Run, Multicultural Festival, Kids Space, Night Pride Parade and Official After Pride Party.
