The Sixth Annual Brooklyn Peace Fair will be held on Saturday, May 15, 2010. This event has become the largest peace and social justice education and performance event in the city of New York. The last Peace Fair drew over 2000 people of all ages.
The Peace Fair, which is a program of Brooklyn For Peace (Formerly Brooklyn Parents for Peace), is being co-sponsored this year by the Brooklyn College Community Partnership and The Brooklyn College Student Center. The Fair will be held at the Brooklyn College Arts Lab and the Brooklyn College Student Center at Brooklyn College from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m.
This year’s program will feature participatory workshops for youth and adults (list TBA), featured speaker and panel discussion, including SOA Watch founder and Nobel Peace Prize nominee, Father Roy Bourgeois and performances which will include dance, spoken word, hip hop, poetry, jazz and more. The performers list is in formation, but so far includes Ill-Literacy, Spiritchild(of Mental Notes), Rude Mechanical Orchestra, Metro Sonics and more. Over 130 local community organizations are expected to sponsor information tables.
