Next month, Brooklyn-based soul band Ghost Star will premiere a selection of haunting murder ballads in the first of two concerts this season at BMCC Tribeca PAC. Further transforming a musical genre originally associated with operatic technique, Ghost Star will honor the murder ballad tradition with a night of eclectic sound on Friday, October 23 at 8pm. The band will perform such notables as the Jimi Hendrix classic “Hey Joe,” and Billy Holiday’s “Strange Fruit”− a ballad condemning lynching in the American south. Ghost Star will also present a selection of original murder ballads infused with their signature blend of classic blues, jazz and funk including a cameo presentation with a surprise guest act. We invite you to experience one the most innovative bands to come out of Brooklyn today! All tickets for Ghost Star Presents a Night of Murder Ballads on October 23 at 8pm at a special $10 rate.
