Every year for the past five years, 98.1 CHFI’S Bob Magee has spent a few cold fall days outside without a coat to let people know that there are a lot of kids in this city whose families simply can’t afford good winter clothing. This year, Sherway Gardens, Sleep Country Canada, The Salvation Army and 98.1 CHFI are working together on the annual Give a Kid a Coat event. Starting Friday, November 7 until Sunday, November 9, 98.1 CHFI's Bob Magee will be camping out in the Northwest Parking Lot beside Holt Renfrew at Sherway Gardens (25 The West Mall, Hwy. 427 & the QEW) – without a coat. Please drop by and visit Bob and donate a new or gently used winter coat of any size to help bring some warmth to a child this winter. For more information call 416-621-1070 or visit www.sherwaygardens.ca.

You would never let your child go out this time of year without a coat…but there are a lot of kids in this city that have no choice, their families just can't afford warm winter clothing. You can help! Your generous donation will help bring warmth to a child this winter. Remember - kids come in all sizes, so we're accepting coats in all sizes!
“We know that our community, tenants and employees will support this brave effort by dropping off a coat to 98.1 CHFI’s Bob Magee to help keep kids warm all winter,” states Elena Price, Senior Marketing Director, Sherway Gardens. “We are hoping to set a new record and collect over 10,000 coats by Sunday evening. We are counting on our community to come out and show their support. Together, we can help keep everyone warm this winter.”
The Sherway Gardens community is coming together to support this year’s Give a Kid a Coat campaign. The York Toros Peewee Hockey Team will be on hand to accept coats at Sherway Gardens on Saturday, November 8 between 10:00am and 1:00pm with celebrity guest Toronto Maple Leafs Legend Ron Ellis, 1967 Stanley Cup Champion & 1972 Summit Series Hero, from 10:30-11:30am and a display of trophies from the Hockey Hall Of Fame. The Pickle Barrel, Michel's Baguette and Timothy's will be feeding Bob Magee and the volunteers throughout the event. Sears, The Bay and Sporting Life have already committed their support to make this a great success.
Sherway Gardens, Sleep Country Canada, The Salvation Army and 98.1 CHFI want to put all of those forgotten coats hanging in your closet back to work. Visit Bob Magee and bring a new or slightly used coat to Sherway Gardens and help keep kids warm all winter.
