Bridging Communities is the Bay Area’s first large-scale event that spotlights the issue of poverty and champions the power of civic engagement. Bridging Communities has two components:

HANDS ACROSS THE BRIDGE, 9 AM
On April 22, 2007, 3,000 people will form HANDS ACROSS THE BRIDGE, a dramatic human chain across the Golden Gate Bridge that symbolizes the bridging of many communities across geographic, ethnic, socioeconomic lines. Must be pre-registered for this event.*

Adults: $25 - $200 ($25 early bird before Apr. 1)
Children: $10 - $25 ($10 early bird before Apr. 1)

FREE COMMUNITY FESTIVAL, 10:30 AM to 3 PM
A community festival open to the public will take place from 10:30 AM – 3 PM at Crissy Field immediately following HANDS ACROSS THE BRIDGE. The festival will feature live music, food, giveaways and family activities.

Fitness Requirement
All participants will be walking from 3 to 4 miles (approximately) depending on whether you’re a north link (shorter) or a south link (longer); the route up to the south end of the Bridge will also include a quarter mile of uphill walking. Shuttles with wheelchair access will be available to take ‘wheelchair participants’ to the north end of the Bridge.

Walk Packet and Will Call
Walk Packets (Event Program and Event Bib Number) will be mailed to the address you provide during registration. On event day, you must have your bib number with you to walk on the bridge and to pick up your event T-shirt and other goodies. If you do not wish to receive your Walk Packet in the mail, please check the appropriate box on the entry form and pick up the materials on event day at Will Call. If you do not receive (or you lose) your Bib # come to the Will Call tent event morning between 7 and 8:30 AM.

* Only people who are Pre-Registered for a spot on the Golden Gate Bridge, with the official participant bib number, will have access to walk out onto the west walkway of the Bridge.

Golden Gate Bridge will be open to vehicular traffic.
Event occurs on the Bridge's West Walkway.

All HANDS ACROSS THE BRIDGE participants must be pre-resigtered.
