Boston Opera Collaborative (BOC) presents Georges Bizet’s Carmen, July 17-18, 24-25 at 7:30 pm with matinee performances July 19 & 26 at 3:00 pm. Performances will be held in the Bulger Performing Arts Center at Boston College High School, 150 Morrissey Blvd, Boston, MA. Nathan Troup directs. Michael Sakir conducts. Performances will be sung in French with English supertitles. Tickets are $25 for general admission and $15 for students and seniors. Tickets are available at www.bostonoperacollaborative.org, or by phone at (617) 517-5883.
BOC will be restoring the historical Opera-Comique version of Carmen, omitting the sung recitatives that were added later by a different composer. With its original spoken dialogue, Boston audiences can now witness the same electrifying Carmen that rocked Paris audiences in 1875.
