The Boston Cecilia's 130th Season Opens with Handel's "The Choice of Hercules."
For all classical music fans, this is a real treat! On November 5th, we present The Choice of Hercules, a charming work from Handel's richly creative later years. Performed only once before in the U.S., this is your chance to experience another important but rarely heard work from the popular composer.
Pleasure, sung soprano Sharon Baker, vies with Virtue, mezzo-soprano Pamela Dellal. Standing between them is countertenor Jeffrey Gall as Hercules.
The program begins with two of the stately Coronation Anthems for George II - Zadok the Priest and The King Shall Rejoice, plus an Italian solo cantata, Qualor Crudele, for voice and continuo.
Performed by The Boston Cecilia Chorus and Period Instrument Orchestra with Maestro Donald Teeters at the helm, this is a concert not to miss!
