Writing and Medicine
Led by Alexandra Simpson, Adjunct Instructor in English, and Kodi Scheer, Lecturer in English at the University of Michigan
Thursday, February 11 • 4:00 p.m. • Earhart Manor Living Room
You are invited to attend the spring season of the Kreft Arts Program at Concordia University. The Books & Coffee series is typically held in the afternoon within the historic Earhart Manor on the university's campus. Refreshments are provided.
Event Description:
Sociologist Arthur Frank contends that illness is a call for stories. How do writers adapt these narratives to create compelling texts? How do the creative arts and medical sciences intersect--or conflict? And how does science fail us in the context of disease, loss, and grief? Simpson (poetry) and Scheer (fiction) will read from their work and discuss the writing process within (and without) the scientific milieu.
This event is free and open to the public.
